One Step Closer to a Better WOD
Knowledge is Power: Hydration is Key
75% of Americans May Suffer From Chronic Dehydration, According to Doctors. If you’re an athlete, or someone that works out regularly than you’re more than likely functioning in some level of a dehydrated state. Hydration is key for our bodies ability to perform and recover but also reduce the risk of injury due to muscle strain and fatigue. And it doesn’t matter if it’s before, during or after an activity or competition, it is essential to stay hydrated. In one hour of exercise, your body can lose more than a 32 ounces of water and with just 1% drop in dehydration, you can experience a 10% drop in performance.
The key to having a healthy body and having a successful athletic career begins with your nutrition and hydration strategy. Water along with essential minerals and nutrients must be maintained and restored before, during and after exercise or competition.
"As a CrossFit coach I can’t stress the importance of staying hydrated during workouts enough. Our bodies are roughly 60% water and maintaining proper hydration levels is the most basic and critical function of fitness and performance. And with just a 1% drop in dehydration we can lose up to 10% in performance." says Vince Santangelo, HDX Ambassador and CrossFit South Bay Instructor. "HDX provides me with all the essential electrolytes, vitamins, amino acids and minerals that not only keep me hydrated but also speeds my recovery time.
