Today I signed up to be part of EverWalk and I'll admit, I'm a little scared. And no, I didn't sign up for the full 137 miles, just day 1 which will take me from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach - approximately 20 miles.
According to my RunKeeper App, I'm clocking in about 15 minutes per mile so feel good about my pace but it's another thing to keep it up for 20 miles!
The most I've done in one day is 7 miles and while I felt good with my performance, this one will definitely require some preparation. With that said, the first thing I dove into were shoes. After all my feet and legs will be doing most, if not all, of the work so I need something that can be up for the challenge.
So I turned to a brand I'd heard about a few years ago, Ampla. These are hands down the most innovative running shoes in the world and even though I'm not running I want nothing but the best.
This shoe is an engineering masterpiece and it has to be seen to be believed and worn to be understood! Check them out and you'll see what I mean.
I also have to thank Rob and Dan from Ampla for thinking of me and hooking me up with these kicks! I'm super amped!
This is the first step in my preparation and you can bet hydration will be a part of my training program. For starters, I'm drinking two 32 ounce servings of HDX Hydration Mix along with two 32 ounce servings of water a day. That's a lot of fluids to keep me going but this will also help me to recover during my training sessions.
That's it for now but I'll post more regular updates on Twitter @VipeDesai if you want to follow along or ask me any questions!
