I founded HDX in 2011 but my story begins long before that. I grew up in Southern California with a passion for surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding. This passion for action sports led me on a path that involved owning a surf shop, launching an award winning marketing agency and working for one of the top energy drink brands in the world.

In between all of this, I spent time serving on the boards of several humanitarian and environmental non-profit organizations.

In 2008, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and I learned that I would need to make some changes in my life. I also realized just how rapidly this disease is growing out of control and that sugary drinks are just one of the contributors that are affecting more than 25 million people living with diabetes just here in the U.S alone. So began the journey to manage my diabetes but to also become an advocate for this disease.

A year later I was at a conference where I learned about the tremendous amount of unnecessary plastic waste being generated on a daily basis by our need for convenience and consumption and that single-use plastic bottles were just one of the major contributors of this problem of plastic pollution.

All combined, sugary drinks in single-use plastic bottles became my personal challenge to come up with a better solution.

This is the inspiration behind HDX. A product that is healthy and has a minimal impact on the planet. At HDX, we align with athletes, brands and groups that share our values to improve the quality of life while enjoying a lifestyle that relies on a healthy planet.
